PADI TEC TRIMIX DIVER For the extreme diver ready to further explore the world of technical deep diving.

The PADI Tec Trimix Diver Course with Tech Asia

The Tec Trimix Diver course trains divers to operate in very deep water, up to 90m/300ft in training. This becomes more operationally complex due to the decompression gas requirements and the use of hypoxic trimix gases that may be unsafe to breathe at the surface. Everything can be managed and leads to outstanding dives but requires that a great deal of thought goes in to the planning of such dives.

The effort can be well rewarded and we are fortunate at Tech Asia. If we want to make a 90-100m/300ft. dive we only need to travel about ten minutes to be able to do it. For the Tec Trimix Diver, the Deep Atolls is a perfect example. From about 66m/220ft on down this unusual, eerie landscape creates a feeling that anything can happen. This is prime Thresher Shark country but the impression you have is that everything is ancient and been undisturbed for ever. There are Groupers so large you can imagine them to be a hundred years old, battle scarred old rays buried in the seabed...every dive here is memorable. And there are other equally special dives, at Hibo Reef or Blackfish Pinnacle to drop some names. Once you are ready, these dives are waiting for you...

Duration and Scope of the Course

Best taken over seven days, the course includes self study, four knowledge development sessions, five practical applications, an asessment dive and eight training dives. In training you can expect to :

  • Plan and execute between three to eight dives (depending upon whether you enter the course as a Tec 50 diver or Tec Trimix 65 diver) using EANX and trimix blends
  • Use decompression software to create custom dive tables and dive plans.
  • Work with hypoxic gases and understand the needs and procedures for use of travel gases.
  • Make training dives as deep as 90 metres/300feet.

Equipment and what is Included

At this level you will continue to use a full, standard technical configuration of either backmounted double tanks, or of Sidemount if you are qualified to do so or wish to combine your training with Tec Sidemount. You'll be working with up to four decompression tanks during some skill training dives. On dives as deep as the upper limits of this course it is worth to consider exposure protection, and look towards a better understanding of drysuits and inflation systems. Also primary lights become of much more importance for communication if the water is dark. Bringing in DPV use as supplemental training is also worth discussing as it is advantageous on deep dives with multiple tanks. Feel free to contact us about these aspects.

You can find details of what is included in all PADI courses on the Overview page and course prices here.

You will use the same Tec Trimix Diver Crew-Pak that you received during your Tec Trimix 65 Diver, which includes all required materials, including: manual, deep stop calculation table, trimix decal and emergency procedures slate.
